Battambang Province, the unique beauty of French colonial architecture and traditional Cambodian architecture

Battambang is located in the northwest of Cambodia. To the north of the provinces bordering to Banteay Meanchey, to the east and south is Pursat, Siem Reap to the northeast and to the west of the province is Pailin. The northern and southern of the province are the international border with Thailand and Tonle Sap lake at notheast.


Battambang one of the most modern provincial capital and developed from French during French colony. The most important which contributes to the economic as well as cultural development of this province are mix with multi-cultural community of Vietnamese, Lao, Thai and Chinese.


The most popular favored is Sangkae River and Battambang itself nice and picturesque natural settings. On the other hand, with its owns unique beauty of French colonial architecture and traditional Cambodian architecture among French colonial buildings, Battambang also has many ancient temples such Wat Baydamram, Wat Ek Phnom, Wat Samsarong Knong, Wat Banan.

One of them, Wat Ek Phnom is a ruined Angkor temple built in the 11th century where you can see a giant Buddha statue and carvings representing interesting stories.


The most attraction is Battambang is Banan mountain with Prasat Banan and Prasat Snung will impressed your eyes by its colorful and delicate carvings.
